Trump Hates Free Speech

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/trump-sticks-to-sports-with-commen...

"Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!’” Trump said. “You know, some owner is going to do that. He’s going to say, ‘That guy that disrespects our flag, he’s fired.’ And that owner, they don’t know it [but] they’ll be the most popular person in this country.”

I'm pretty sure he looked at:
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/?ex_cid=rrpromo

and said, "my approval rating is getting too high, I need to say something incredibly stupid to even it out."

Expect a large number of kneelers tomorrow afternoon. And probably a whole bunch of violence between fans, unless they are at the Chargers game, who don't have any fans.

This is true, but

This is true, but unfortunately, being an asshole is usually covered under free speech.

I was hoping the whole kneeling at a football game would just fade away like so many other annoying things (fidget spinners and slime come to mind) but now we're going to have to deal with kneeling all over again.

We keep some people out of the country-not enough of them however, but is anyone stopping these spoiled rotten punks from leaving if this country is so objectionable? Didn't think so.

With absolutely no deference to you Matt, but from all of us "dipshits",it is
Mr. Dipshit to you. There is a real good chance we all have done things to earn the
priviledge of being one.

All the sheeple on AMG wave their Pom poms for the bone spur-in-chief when he tries to score the cheapest of points.

Pathetic and sad.

The suggestion has been made that it should be against the law to disrespect the American flag, make it a law.The same people would thought that it was fine for the government to make it law that you had to purchase insurance should have no problem with that.Right?

There is no free speech in

There is no free speech in the workplace. Once your employer is known to be associated with you, they can censor you any way they want. So say the government lawyers...

So patriotism is now defined as "righty politics"? Presumably "lefty politics" is therefore defined as "anti-patriotism". Thanks for clearing that up for us.

@Toolsmith: "There is no free speech in the workplace. Once your employer is known to be associated with you, they can censor you any way they want. So say the government lawyers..."

Thank you Toolsmith for actually talking about the issue at hand... however since the NFL is a monopoly and the players have a union (one of the few instances where a union makes sense, IMHO) it would have to be negotiated.

I believe the NFL's CBA says that players can be "fired" (or suspended) for pretty much anything (the NFL's agreement favors the owners more than any other league).

But it would generate a shit storm of epic proportions, and you can bet that a large number of players would just stop playing in protest. Which would cost the league a ton of money and probably put it in jeopardy. Or, the teams that didn't fire players would just pick up all the awesome players and then win.

Either way, it isn't in the owners' best interest to "fire" players, and I'm sure they don't appreciate Donnie Trump putting them in that situation.

Then again, I've completely been distracted from talking about yet another failed Obamacare repeal and the probable loss of Trump's candidate, Luther Strange, so hey, mission accomplished!

The owners are laughing all

The owners are laughing all the way to the bank because the actions of one man put a focus on the sport that was losing viewer interest due to being same-old same-old. If Trump were really smart eh would have ignored the entire issue as he should the rantings of the North Korean dictator. The latter needs a culprit in order to keep control of his dictatorship when his real desire is war against South Korea in order to reduce his dependency on foreign support for his economy which he now gets from China. China on the other hand, gives this support in order to keep the famished North Koreans from migrating to China.

Since WHEN is the flag the

Since WHEN is the flag the symbol of police? Much less police brutality.

I can see why the Confederate flag or the Confederate battle flag are seen this way, but the Stars & Stripes was the flag on the winning side in the Civil War not the losing side.

Cheering twenty thousand

Cheering twenty thousand dollar f-16 flyovers and fawning over offensive coordinators dressed in desert camo is patriotism, according to vikingstar.

Anyone posting on this thread

Anyone posting on this thread should check wardrobe for those niffy team shirts ( the ones that can be in the 50 dollar plus range) first.
That is part of the problem.
